Winnie Begumisa is a Legal Associate at Libra Advocates & Consultants in the Firm’s General Tax and Legal Advisory Services. She holds an LLB (Hons) Degree from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre. She is currently pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Tax and Revenue Administration (DITRA).

Winnie brings a wealth of experience from her previous clerkship and internship with leading law firms in Uganda; Shonubi, Musoke and Co. Advocates, and ALP Advocates. Winnie’s practice covers tax advisory, consultancy and advocacy, corporate advisory, commercial transactions, arbitration, employment and immigration matters, oil and gas/mining law.

She is currently assisting Former Uganda Law Society President, Francis Gimara to write a publication on Civil Procedure and Practice and has done a lot of NGO work with organisations such as PILAC, UGANET and ISER in the promotion of human rights in Uganda.

She is a phenomenal leader who has served as the 44th Vice President of Makerere Law Society where she established, along with Uganda Law Society, the Rule of Law Clubs to sensitize the youths on adherence to the Law in order to raise a law-abiding generation. She has participated in International Law Moot Court Competitions and served on the University Guild as an Executive.

Winnie is also passionate about fashion law, women empowerment and agro-business.
